{"id":1442,"date":"2020-06-05T17:18:12","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T15:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nccfirenzewp.nccfirenze.it\/?post_type=product&#038;p=1442"},"modified":"2026-04-12T23:18:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T21:18:12","slug":"super-tuscan-wine-tour","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.nccfirenze.com\/en\/product\/super-tuscan-wine-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Super Tuscan Wine Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"long-desc\">\n<p>The term <em>Anglo-Saxon<\/em> <strong>Supertuscan<\/strong> was coined by the English journalist and wine expert <em>Nicholas Belfragene<\/em> in the mid-1980s almost 20 years after the birth, circa 1968, of the <em><strong>Sassicaia<\/strong><\/em>, progenitor of this type of wine and originating from the '<em>family wine<\/em>Nobles <em>Incisa della Rocchetta<\/em> followed and developed by other famous names of Italian enology such as <em>Antinori<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the <em>Chianti<\/em>, <em>Brunello<\/em> e<em> Noble<\/em>, the most used grapes in this area are French (as for the first one <em>Sassicaia<\/em>) such as <em>Cabernet Sauvignon<\/em> e <em>Cabernet Franc<\/em>. At the time of the birth of the <em>Sassicaia<\/em> no designation could be used (<em>DOC<\/em>) because it is not provided for by the <em>disciplinary of Tuscan wines<\/em>Only in 1994 did we witness the birth of the <strong>Bolgheri DOC<\/strong>. Other experimentations which gave origin to this wine, nowadays very renowned, were a <em>Sangiovese<\/em> in purity experimented by the great masters of Italian enology and, only from the middle of the 1970's, of a <em>blend<\/em> by <em>Sangiovese<\/em> e <em>Cabernet Sauvignon<\/em> like the <em>Tignanello<\/em> degli <em>Antinori<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The excellent climatic conditions (we are close to the sea and rains are not very frequent in these parts, or rather not as intense as in the inland) have favored the change, during the last decades, of the agriculture of these parts from \"traditional\" (fruit, vegetables etc..) to viticulture and consequently more and more farms have been transformed into wineries without abandoning the tradition (it is still easy to find and buy in the farm, in addition to wine, also fruit and vegetables).<\/p>\n<p class=\"cit\"><i class=\"fas fa-clock\"><\/i><em> The Super Tuscan Wine Tour will depart from Florence at 9am and return at 6pm. The total duration, including transportation, is approximately <strong>9 hours<\/strong>. The program of the day consists in visiting one or more companies where to taste <strong>Supertuscan<\/strong> combined with a visit to the small village of <strong>Bolgheri<\/strong> with a lunch stop choosing from several excellent restaurants with great 'wine cellars'!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Super Tuscan<\/strong> indicates a particular type of wine which does not follow the disciplinary (the rules of preparation) adopted for other wines of <em>Tuscany<\/em> (<em>Chianti<\/em>, <em>Brunello<\/em>, <em>Noble<\/em>, etc). We are located in the coast <em>west<\/em> of <em>Tuscany<\/em> a few steps from the sea and about 1h and 30 minutes by car from <em><strong>Florence<\/strong><\/em>.
