Thanks also to this strategic position that allowed him to control the surrounding terrors, <strong>Cortona<\/strong>starting between<em>VIII<\/em> and the <em>7th century BC<\/em>, became a very powerful city.Among the interesting places to visit in <strong>Cortona<\/strong>The <em>Museum of the Etruscan Academy<\/em>The <em>Cathedral of Cortona<\/em>, the <em>Church of S. Francesco<\/em> and the<em>Hermitage of the Cells<\/em>. Excellent are also the gastronomic specialties among which the bovine meat of breed '<em>Chianina<\/em>(of <em>Val di Chiana<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arezzo<\/strong> turns out to be of even pre<em>Etrusca<\/em> thanks to the chance discovery of stone tools dating back to the <em>paleolithic<\/em> during the excavations of a tunnel of the railway line Rome-Florence shortly after the middle of 1800. It then became one of the cities <em>Etruscan<\/em> most important along with <strong>Cortona<\/strong> as well as <strong>Closed<\/strong> e <strong>Orvieto<\/strong>. Thanks to its strategic location on the territory <strong>Arezzo<\/strong> became an important city of the<em>Roman Empire<\/em> that was being born. In <em>Middle Ages<\/em> l'<strong>Arezzo<\/strong> <em>Ghibellina<\/em> with its growing power inevitably collides with <strong>Florence<\/strong> e <strong>Siena<\/strong>. <strong>Arezzo<\/strong> is the birthplace of <em>Giorgio Vasari<\/em>, the biographer of the <em>Renaissance<\/em>period in which a great artistic and urban development of the city took place, preserved and visible until today.<\/p>\n<p>Among the interesting places to visit in <strong>Arezzo<\/strong>: the <em>Basilica of St. Francis<\/em> (with the frescoes of <em>Piero della Francesca<\/em>), the <em>Vasari House<\/em>, the <em>Cathedral<\/em>, the <em>Vasari Loggias<\/em> at <em>Big square<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"cit\"><i class=\"fas fa-clock\"><\/i> <em>The excursion of <strong>Cortona<\/strong> e <strong>Arezzo<\/strong> foresees the departure from <strong>Florence<\/strong> at 9am and a return at 5pm. The total duration, including transportation, is approx. <strong>8 hours<\/strong>. Both of them can be visited independently but for a more complete and historical visit we suggest to do it with a local Authorized Guide (with an extra cost, always book it with us) all day (both cities) or half day (one of the two).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cities of <strong>Cortona<\/strong> e <strong>Arezzo<\/strong> represent what is most appreciable and fascinating to be found in <em>Tuscany<\/em> in terms of secular history and culture.
